Geopard and Plato is a sculpture located at Kauppis-Heikki School in Iisalmi, on the yard facing the pupils’ entrances. The work features a geometric feline, the “Geopard”, climbing over a stack of regular polyhedra. Its character is a playful blend of animal fable and mathematical structure.
The Geopard is composed of triangular and square elements. Beneath it lie five of Plato’s solids — the regular polyhedra tetrahedron, hexahedron (cube), octahedron, dodecahedron and icosahedron — arranged overlapping and partly nested within one another.
